About our programs and policies
At MBA we are happy to
see people from their first ride, to academy shows,
horse ownership, and to competition at the national
level. MBA is a great place to start, and what we
offer is most unique! We have the means and ability to
continue fulfilling your needs as you and your child's
interests and abilities grow. MBA is a modern
riding stable specializing in teaching the
age-old art of horsemanship. Customers enjoy
riding, driving, boarding, and breeding their American
Saddlebred horses. We feature lessons for children and
adults.
Cancellation Policy:
Please call 24 hours prior for cancelling a lesson, or
you will be charged for that lesson. Cancellations
will be accepted for sickness by 9 A.M. the morning of
the lesson. A "No Show" means that you will be charged.
We hope our efforts in this area will allow
maximum number of options, when scheduling your next
lesson. This procedure will allow time slots to be
offered for other individuals wanting use of our arena.
What riding lessons teach us...Over
and above all other things, ridding is a a sport. Riding
is a wonderful work-out which teaches strength, balance,
and flexibility. Ridding also teaches responsibility,
care for an animal, and sportsmanship. Competing is
about setting personal goals and doing your personal
best; competition leverages being a modest champion and
how to learn from constructive criticism. In addition,
there is nothing like the camaraderie of a barn with
people sharing a like interest. It becomes a wonderful
social opportunity for people of all ages. Over all,
riding is a great way to spend time with animal, and
form that special bond.
What does MBA offer?
We are located just twenty-five miles from downtown
Chicago. Our modern facility has a heated indoor arena
and heated observation lounge; riding may take place
year round. While we do not offer trail rides, our
fenced outdoor riding track is set along side a forested
area, a creek, and wildlife from Waterfall Glen Nature
Preserve. A park-like atmosphere is ever present.
PROFESSIONALISM is key at MBA. Our staff and owners have
devoted their lives to the equine industry, which
translates
into total care and quality service for horses and
equestrians. While
our focus is the American Saddlebred Horse, we do also
have samplings of several other breeds. We are more than
happy to schedule tours of our services for clients
needing additional information.
What
do you learn in a typical lesson?
- How
to properly mount and dismount, adjust tack, lead
the horse, steer, stop, and back the animal.
- How
to use your voice and body language to properly
signal the horse.
Students will learn how to sit each of the horse
gaits, and more advanced individuals work on
maneuvering the horse through a series of shapes and
patterns.
-
Safe passing techniques and correct terms for tack
and parts of the horse are also incorporated into
the riding experience.
-
While we give many children their first ride, we
have instructors and horses to challenge even the
most avid equestrian. ( Helmets provided.)
On
behalf of all the MBA staff, we would like to thank you
all of our loyal customers.
